Tiny House Concept Adapted Into Amazing Modern Home

This stunning small home has been constructed using tiny house design principles as part of a new suburban subdivision in Wanaka New Zealand. At 33 square meters (355 square feet) it's a very compact home and is filled with super clever tiny house and small space design ideas. Become a Living Big Patron: https://www.patreon.com/livingbig Constructed from structurally insulated panels or SIPs, this tiny house is well insulated, modern and constructed from very high quality materials. https://www.livingbiginatinyhouse.com/tiny-house-suburban-subdivision/ Building a house on foundations using the tiny house concept has allowed Will and Jen to create a home which is the best of both worlds. It's streamlined to the couples needs, takes up a very small footprint and has all the advantages of a tiny house, yet it's also not restricted to the standard tiny house dimensions and road-travel limitations, allowing the small home to be much higher and a bit wider than a conventional tiny house. It also means they haven't had to take weight into consideration in their build. I hope you enjoy this weeks episode! Manhattan shoebox apartment: a 78-square-foot mini studio

A couple years ago, Manhattan architect Luke Clark Tyler, lived in a 96 square foot apartment. Instead of upsizing with his latest move, he chose to squeeze himself and his belongings into even less space. Luke now lives in a 78 square foot shoebox studio. It's too narrow to fit a bed lengthwise, but using a bit of plywood and 2x4s he built his own custom bed/couch. He keeps his clothes, plates, microwave, books, spices and shaving and cleaning supplies in a large built-in cabinet. The rest of his kitchen is a tiny refrigerator that helps hold up his desk (he works for home as a contract architect). While he admits he misses being able to cook a real meal- though he's vegetarian so eats a lot of vegetables and nuts and can even microwave eggs- Luke doesn't see living small as a sacrifice. He loves living in the heart of New York City- his place is in Midtown Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen- and he likes paying just $750/month (cheaper than the shared housing he could find in the area). This modern tiny house is truly a musicians dream home. Asha Mevlana is an electric violinist with the Trans Siberian Orchestra who is used to life on tour but wanted a solid place to call home. This incredible tiny house is constructed on foundations but is joined by a mobile music studio on wheels, which also doubles as a practice space as well as performance venue.

Asha's home is beautiful and spacious. At 40ft, it's certainly on the larger side of tiny, yet is packed with very clever small space design ideas.

The adjoining mobile music studio is a fantastic addition. Decorated to look like a giant amp, it's marine speakers allow it to also transform into a performance space for wonderful back-yard concerts and also enabling the music studio to be taken on tour and to festivals.

Visit Asha's website for more information on both her tiny house and her music: https://www.ashamevlana.com/
