2019 Bentley Continental GT first drive review

Published on May 15, 2018 57,213 views

We all love the Mustang and Camaro. America’s finest sport coupes are raw and visceral, and they’ve become pure sports cars. But what if they were larger, and British, and undeniably elegant? What if they cost more than $200,000? Then they’d be the Bentley Continental GT.

Hi. I’m Kirk Bell for Motor Authority, and I’m here in Austria to find out what happens when elegance meets style and performance in the 2019 Bentley Continental GT.

From the start, Bentley aimed to make the third-generation Continental GT sportier while maintaining ultra-luxury levels of refinement.

Mission accomplished.

Dharshanth Kumar 11 месяцев назад I have been always fascinated with how the British pull off their car reviews but mate, you pulled this one off. Nice, and nothing overly done. Everything was straight to the point. You just earned yourself a subscriber. Now as an Automotive-Mechanical Engineer, I must say this, that car is one amazing machine. I just wish that I was a politician or a wealthy entrepreneur to that car .In the automotive world, I would just might regard that as 2018's best car in the world. Performance, luxury, efficiency and it's safety, it bags it all. Thanks for making this review mate. Amazingly done!

  • louisxiiii
louisxiiii 9 месяцев назад Some of the updates are OK, but some are just misguided. The crease along the top of the rear fenders looks lifted from a Chevy Impala, the side scoops behind the front wheels from a BMW 4-series, and the diamond knurling (or etching, it doesn't really look like knurling) just looks tacky.
  • John Geoffrey Venning
John Geoffrey Venning 7 месяцев назад I appreciate your answer, however if you look at a knurling tool you will notice that it does cut a pattern in the metal. It is used on a lathe and is mounted on the tool holder.@louisxiiii
  • louisxiiii
louisxiiii 7 месяцев назад @John Geoffrey Venning Knurling is done by pressing a die into the metal, which upsets (forces up) the metal it displaces, since the metal that was inside the groove has to go someplace. Assuming the knob is metal, and not cast, MIM, or printed, it would have to be a very unusual knurling die that produces fine grooves adjacent to a perfectly flat surface without a corresponding peak. Even if such a thing were possible, wouldn't it be easier to cut the pattern on a lathe? Either way, it still looks like a molded aluminized plastic knob found on a cheap car.
