Regular Car Reviews: 1988 Chrysler New Yorker

Published on Mar 24, 2014 599,341 views

The '88 New Yorker: An Autobot that transforms into a dish of Werther's Originals. This car, for all its silly faults, proved the genius of Lee Iacocca.

snappy452 4 года назад I sell cars for a living. A lady came in one day asking $1000 for her 1987 NY'er with 126k on it. I showed her this video, and she asked "How did my car get on the computer?" Crack is whack, yo.
  • snappy452
snappy452 2 недели назад @FirebirdCamaro1220 This wasnt a joke, I was relaying her actual reaction. Do you think a crackhead gives a damn/knows about chassis designation?!

Jared Ostler 2 года назад RegularCars My grandpa bought a 1991 New Yorker Fifth Avenue 3.3L V6 with 118,000 miles on it in October of 2014, for about $2,200. It was an old lady car and has about every option. The air suspension is still great! Driving it is like driving your sofa down the road. I have to be careful when I drive it at night because it's easy to fall asleep in that car😂

  • Donald Thompson
Donald Thompson 4 года назад I had a white 1989 Chrysler New Yorker Landau, it had blue leather seats. It also had the digital dashboard and the Electronic voice alert, also it had the computer that physically showed you and told you if there was a problem with the car right down to the disc brake pads being worn. I loved that car, the Mitsubishi 3.0 V6 is a very reliable engine and i got well over 25 mpg. One of the best cars i owned, i drove it well over 350,000 miles and the tranny starting going.
  • Roman Seano
Roman Seano Год назад Donald, if you heard a voice, it was in your head. Electronic Voice did not exist on any Chrysler since the 1988 model year. I'm also not sure what you mean by that it "had the computer that physically showed you" a problem. It sounds like you're saying a robot hand & arm points out problems to you... But maybe you mean something like a vehicle diagram on the dash - which this New Yorker did not have. What it had was EVIC - the Electronic Vehicle Information Center, mounted above the rear-view mirror. It would alert you (with LED text on the display) of any problem down to a light-bulb needing replacement. For example, it would not say "your brake pads are worn," as you suggested. But if it detected a problem with the ABS or other braking system component, it would alert you to seek service for the brakes. If you owned another Chrysler product from a model year 1987 & prior, you may be conflating the memory of that car with that of your 1989 New Yorker.
