Toyota Corolla 2019 in-depth review | carwow Reviews

Published on Mar 14, 2019 912,270 views

This is the new Toyota Corolla! It’s fair to say previous generations of the Corolla (or Auris, as it used to be called) were known for being good value for money, but relatively dull. However, it seems Toyota is looking to put that reputation to bed with the all-new Corolla! But does the interior and drivability match up to the exciting new exterior style, especially when you consider it costs slightly more than a VW Golf or Ford Focus? Join Mat for his in-depth review to find out!

bliglum 1 месяц назад This is the new best looking hatchback in my opinion... Never thought I'd say that about a Corolla, wow.
  • CharmingHomer
CharmingHomer 1 месяц назад (изменено) It has great look and nothing else. I wonder why Matt is recommending this superslow, boring car with mediasystem from 90's and engine from 60's.
  • bliglum
bliglum 1 месяц назад @CharmingHomer I would'nt say nothing else.. It, like all Corollas before, is more about long term dependability, smooth ride etc.. But yeah, performance wise it's pretty much last place I do believe.
  • José Luís Lopes
José Luís Lopes 1 месяц назад @CharmingHomer great looking, great consumption, fast enough for most people, and you have the 2l 180bhp if you need it. Super reliable, all the safety equipment as standard... Yeah no idea why he recommends it...
  • Hrvoje Krsnik
Hrvoje Krsnik 1 месяц назад @CharmingHomer Did you just call Toyota's hybrid engine "engine from the 60s"?
  • stefanos escobar
stefanos escobar 1 месяц назад @CharmingHomer did I just heard bullshit!! Ok I got it , this is why Toyota stucks selling cars ,it is just in rank 1 last few decades !
  • CharmingHomer
CharmingHomer 1 месяц назад @Hrvoje Krsnik and what gives you this hybrid engine? Lower power consumption? Not outside the city. But higher price for sure. Hybrid has no sense today.
  • ikra
ikra 19 часов назад @CharmingHomer yes because hybrids existed in the 90's and touch screen infotainment was also invented back then.

  • Dennis Ruijl
Dennis Ruijl 1 месяц назад Absolutely true! I've been in doubt between those two for weeks, until I finally chose the driving comfort of the Corolla (Hybrid automatic) over the more beautiful looks and sporty driving of the Mazda 3. (Mazda 3 Automatic would've been best, but it was way more expensive because of it...)

Ivica Kovac 4 недели назад Yes, both of them look great and are reliable, but I am a bit let down by the performance of those cars. 0-60 mph in just under 11 sec. is just not that greta. For the same price you can get the new Honda Civic 1.5 with 182 hp and way more room in the trunk.

  • Jacopo Coletto
Jacopo Coletto 2 месяца назад I sincerely hope it's better than the old one... I rented an Auris in 2018 in Iceland, and it felt a very slow, unresponsive car to drive. I eventually got rid of it the next day and swapped it for a Skoda (which, to my surprise, was a much better car). If Toyota wants to be successful in Europe, they'll need to improve their driving dynamics.

Small opening rear doors with little leg and head room, shallow boot, close to £30k for this top spec model. All of these short comings, the Korean brands do better in their equivalent offerings. Toyota always seems to be a step behind their competitors.

  • Cassette Walkman
Cassette Walkman 2 месяца назад @sic22l Not the most expensive ever. The New Zealand market Corolla GT of 1987 was. The suspension was tuned by Chris Amon which included beefier components and driveshafts and numerous tweaks. The interior was leather. When the Japanese Toyota executives drove it in NZ they admitted it was by far the best Corolla for sale in the world. They also said they couldn't sell it anywhere else because it would be too expensive. Back in 1987 it was NZ$42,000 for the 3 door manual and $47,000 for the 5 door liftback. Yes, 32 years ago. Today here in NZ the top of the range new Hybrid is NZ$39,000. So not even accounting for 32 years of inflation in pure $ terms it's got a way to go.
  • Cassette Walkman
Cassette Walkman 2 месяца назад Jack 1 Not the best. That would be the 2001 Allex RS180S manual 6 speed 5dr. 190hp, an 8000rpm redline and superbly tuned suspension. They are sought after here in NZ for not just their driving but the quality of the interior and running gear is amazing. Have seen many with 300,000kms, still burning no oil between changes and looking like 5 years old.
  • Cassette Walkman
Cassette Walkman 2 месяца назад @Toyota4Life Yep. That same car in a 5 door was the Allex and Runx in Japan with the 2ZZ-GE used in the Celica and also by Lotus. From 2001-2004. Astonishingly reliable too.
  • sic22l
sic22l 2 месяца назад @Cassette Walkman It's not really fair to compare a market specific, semi-custom car to a mass produced model.
  • Cassette Walkman
Cassette Walkman 2 месяца назад sic22l All car models are fine tuned to specific markets.
  • Cassette Walkman
Cassette Walkman 2 месяца назад sic22l These weren't one off customs, these were the mass market cars here. It's probably why in New Zealand these cars have a completely different reputation from elsewhere in the world. With proper setup and suspension they were good driver's cars.
  • A real bisexual petrol-head
A real bisexual petrol-head 2 месяца назад TriHard Toyota Corolla AE86 is RWD and this Corolla is FWD. You can't compare a RWD and a FWD cars. Only idiots compare RWD and FWD cars. Also only idiots compare cars from two different decades. AE86 is from 1980's and this is a 2019 model, can't be compared. Also did you know that some people actually have children? You can't get Android or Apple on any old cars from that era, because Android Auto or Apple Car Play didn't existed in 1980's. So if you buy an old car, you would complain why there's no Android Auto or Apple Car Play.
