  • Untitled -
Untitled - 2 месяца назад (изменено) They are slowly killing Mitsubishi Lancer here in Brazil, in 2019 we dont have anymore Lancer (the normal one not the Evo) Manual Transmission, we had it till 2017 but since then its all Automatic Transmission and here in Brazil we have the oldest model of Lancer, we dont have Daylights or even the Arrow Indicator Lights in the Rearview mirror like in the USA version. Also we never had that Anniversary Edition/Black Edition version that has in USA. Evo's here below the X (Like 7 or 9) is rare, like 1 in 10 million people have one.. The common Evo here is the X, and only automatic transmission.

  • iEat Crayons
iEat Crayons 3 месяца назад @robmanueb2 Blasphemy. Mitsi/Evos have the most fragile transmission while the STi trans is pretty much bullet proof. And while EJ ain't nothing special, its still more reliable than a 4G lol. I would know, my mate currently owns an Evo 9MR and i used to own a GC8 STi. And i can tell ya from first hand experience those Evo's are a money pit. Subaru may not be the most reliable brand out there but its still a million times better than fucking Mitsubishi lmao.
  • iEat Crayons
iEat Crayons 3 месяца назад @SI0AX Yeah true that. 4G's are pretty good engines as long as they're not molested.
  • warren smith
warren smith 3 месяца назад @iEat Crayons but the much easier to obtain wrx 5 speed is crap and the ej motors cant handle much more than 350 wheel before internal modifications are needed. If you have the money it's nice but as a regular Joe who likes to go fast I'd take that cast iron 4g block anyday.
  • Grren
Grren 3 месяца назад Worst kind of fast
  • Spiros Mousouris
Spiros Mousouris 3 месяца назад @Grren Not really. Any faster than this requires a special budget, a pro mechanic, a track and a lot of free time. Not everybody can afford those. The more down-to-earth-fast, the more you live with the car everyday, and its stil fun to drive.
  • SI0AX
SI0AX 3 месяца назад @iEat Crayons I think a modified engine can be reliable too, the problem is the tune, mechanical health and maintenance. It usually goes above and beyond your average EVO owner and it's even more rare to see a reliable and well modified EVO than a stock one, lol.

  • Dave Wilson
Dave Wilson 3 месяца назад I don't see why so many people love these cars. I was around for the Midnight Club and NFS Underground days and an Evo has never got me excited and probably never will. Supra, RX-7, Skyline or LS cause it's not even worth it. Sedan: Strike One DSM(reliability): Strike Two 4 Cylinder: Strike Three Maxed out Evo on 30 pounds of boost: 600whp, 11.2 second 1/4 mile Bone stock C6 Z06 Corvette with N/A LS7: 450whp, 11.4 second 1/4 mile Thanks but no thanks. Thousands of dollars spent maxing out a car to end up dead even with a bone stock Z06. LMAO. I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's no replacement for displacement. Why turbo an inline 4 when you can turbo an inline 6 or a V8?
  • Dave Wilson
Dave Wilson 3 месяца назад @MrKansai1 teghe I know these cars were ideal for rallying but it seems like 90% of people that like and own these cars just try to go as fast as possible. If you want to go as fast as possible a 4 cylinder isn't the answer. I appreciate weight savings as much as the next guy but at what cost? A quick google search just revealed that an STi engine weighs only 100 lbs less than a 7 liter LS7 engine. That's a lot of extra weight to have swinging in the front but the performance and reliability increase make it well worth it imo.

I've owned F bodies, an sti, a 450hp 335i, a Terminator mustang, and a c5 z06. The only car I truly regret selling is my Evo. Protector of the Republic 3 месяца назад Few people know this but Volvo made from '96 to '04 the V40 wagon which shared the same chassis with the Mitsu Evo. Some parts like brakes and suspension components are somewhat interchangeable. If you can get a T4, you get a 2 liter turbo with around 200 HP, but it's underrated and with easy mods you can easily go to 250+, some with a manual too, but only in FWD. I don't know if they were sold in the US though. Here in Europe they dirt cheap and a lot of fun.

Protector of the Republic 3 месяца назад @upgradedBACON Yes, I think it's the Volvo modular engine. The B4204T engine. Reliable but thirsty. I have the non-turbo version of the V40 and in my opinion the high point is the handling, as it has an LSD. For a wrong wheel drive car it is quite decent handling and it's been dead reliable for me. It's 23 years old and my daily driver.

Emir Trump el-Amriki 3 месяца назад (изменено) Also your comment about early 2000's cars, it's absolutely true. Ive owned two, currently an '04 WRX, and my first car was my dad's base model 2000 Jetta, which he bought new a month before I was born. He drove it until he got a 2013 Elantra, and it waited 3 years until I got my license. Had a lot of fun with it but it didn't last long because it was an old car that spent it's entire life in Quebec and New Hampshire, which meant rust (and if you've been to Quebec you will know how abysmal the roads are). So I drove it from the time I got my license until around Christmas 2017 when all the rust finally took it's toll on the car, I got the WRX in spring 2018, and I've done no mods so far (on that tight college budget now) Edit: if anyone wants to know, the Jetta was a 5-speed bought in October '99

That's 47,000 after the build, without ever having to tear it down, get stuck on the side of the road or have any major problems. As long as you do things right, there is no reason the 4g63 has to be any less reliable than any other motor. Evos are fragile because stupid and cheap people like them as much as people who know how to and can afford to build a proper car.

  • dick van niggz
dick van niggz 3 месяца назад Edward Agora Feenman they get a bad rep because of shitty tuning, they run high boost stock and even higher obviously when people put their go fast touch on it lol, more boost requires a more precise tune and off the shelf shit/inexperienced tuners will be the death of most any engine running all that boost

  • Conner Goldberg
Conner Goldberg 3 месяца назад It's because the price of the CAR has gone down to a point where a college kid can buy one and NOT MAINTAIN THE FUCKING CAR. It's 10-15k to pick one of them up and they spend maybe $200 a year to service the damn thing... forgetting that it is gonna need driveline fluids, coolant, brake fluid, etc all replaced as well. The evo is amongst the most expensive cars to maintain yet for whatever reason people decide that they can treat it like every other beater car out there and complain when it breaks.
  • Terrence Bennett
Terrence Bennett 3 месяца назад (изменено) @MrSenorpepe I agree. I think he's mistaken the 4G63 to the EJ25 in the Subie. Those blow headgaskets. A properly modded Evo with 750 hp can be a reliable daily driver if not abused all of the time. You can't say that for an STI. Those things are ticking time bombs before they reach 500 hp. It is rare to find even a stock STI with over 100k miles on the odometer that hasn't had the headgaskets done. If it hasn't happened, it's on borrowed time. Subaru owners are very forgiving. If any other car company had the issues the EJ25 had, their cars would be considered crap.

  • ArthurAlcantara
ArthurAlcantara 3 месяца назад @JK061996 Bigger wheels allows for better brakes and that may lead to more late braking passes like the one Ricciardo is known for. Couple that to the upcoming changes for 2021 and racing might get much more exciting. The 13' rim rule for F1 is old, implementeted decades ago, manufactures no longer make tyres of that size, apart from economy cars in emergent countries, which means F1 data doesn't translate well to mass markets like many other technologies that trickle down from F1 to passenger cars. Time to move on.

LOL why do I see so many of your types try and defend the FIA's bullshit with more bullshit they made up to justify making boring cars no one cares about to please the manufacturers? F1 has nothing in common with road cars, never has and never will. Don't fall for the marketing gimmicks.

DFX2KX 1 месяц назад I think you can go too far one way or the other. Too small a wheel, and it looks like something out of the 50's, which is only appropriate on a Crown Vic when you're trying to look like a cop. too much rim, and it's like 'where's the tires?' This car is about as big as I'd go personally. depends on the rim, too, some look way better when larger and vice versa. They look pretty good on this car to me.

  • epoxeclipse
epoxeclipse 3 месяца назад Mitsubishi awd on snow is sketchy at best. It's good, but sketchy. Like would I trade it for fwd? No. But would I trust my buddy to drive my sketchy awd mitsubishi other than in a snowy parking lot.. Also probably no. You have to get a feel for how it responds in snow conditions. Over steer and understeer can be controlled but it won't do what you'd expect say a fwd or rwd to do in many situations.
  • Finnish Car Guys
Finnish Car Guys 3 месяца назад @epoxeclipse Wouldn't probably trust it to a non car-guy buddy either, you definitely need to know what you're doing with it. But when you do it's absolutely brilliant on snow. Not sketchy. There is a reason why it's a very very common rally car around here. And those are mostly stock ones as well.

epoxeclipse 3 месяца назад (изменено) @Ghetto 1980 you should watch my channel and you can see me drifting my awd mitsubishi in the snow, I also autocross maybe I can provide some literature for you to read regarding how awd is the most difficult to tune for cornering in dry and wet conditions because differentials fight each other. It's not my opinion on the matter it's physics.
  • brandon b
brandon b 3 месяца назад @epoxeclipse Idk man, people love driving evo's in the snow and theres a reason why its a hugely well known and proven rally car. I have a 2016 WRX with open diffs on all seasons with 50% tread and it performs shockingly well and predictable in the snow. Surprise surprise. With winter tires I cant begin to imagine how much better it'd be.. and from reading forums people say its like driving on dry pavement (exaggeration for sure).

epoxeclipse 3 месяца назад (изменено) @brandon b I run studded ipike winter only driven 225/45/17 on mine and while they are amazing in the rain and cold weather however on only 4in of snow you can easily drift, everywhere at any time, all the time, every time.

  • Shaia pouf
Shaia pouf 2 месяца назад @epoxeclipse I have experience in awd from the make. Montero sport awd(4wd) of early 2000's was great on snow. It competes with Land Rover and Toyota. I would say Mitsubishi has the 1 or 2 best awd (4wd) system. You are so dumb. An outlander awd can drive perfect in the snow. You just have a shitty car maybe inspection is what you need to do on it. But they are great on snow with mud terrains trust me it's all over YouTube.
