Brandon Ng 10 месяцев назад 100% best car journalists! You guys are the first that I've seen to review the new Mazda Miata! Thank you for being so quick to review such a new car on the market!

_窮 10 месяцев назад 6:04 Loved the shift-points and redlines comparison, really helpful to illustrate the difference in HP in the 2019 version.
  • syntheticXstasy
syntheticXstasy 10 месяцев назад Yes this! I watched it a couple times at 0.25x speed, really the best illustration possible of what the increased redline and HP mean for the car.
  • DumbDuck44
DumbDuck44 10 месяцев назад Slow vs very slow! Miatas are about more than just horsepower, but there are so many lightweight high performance engines out now, I don't know why they can't jam something more impressive in there. My mom's GLA45 grocery getter hatchback is 400hp, and under the hood its not large at all, and it does 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds. And Mazda themselves have the much hyped Skyactive-X engine that they are putting in the non-sportscar Mazda 3, and yet the Miata that is supposed to be a sportcar stays on an old engine design that is just tweaked instead of replaced. Sad.
  • Tom Higgins
Tom Higgins 10 месяцев назад I just want them to put their 2.5 turbo in it, my god what a car that would be. They did a turbo for the nb so why not now :P
  • Ryan
Ryan 10 месяцев назад Dumbeduck's all over the video with comments! That pretty gay hatchback also costs multiples of the Miata's MSRP, as you probably know. Newsflash: the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk also blows the doors off the miata! The ND received the power it deserved. These are happy times. And the engine still remains very reliable, proven tech. Nothing wrong with that. Enjoy your mustang haha

  • Luc Lapierre
Luc Lapierre 7 месяцев назад @DumbDuck44 your mom's car would also get smoked in autocross by a miata. Can't have it all
  • DumbDuck44
DumbDuck44 7 месяцев назад Unlikely. The Miata doesn't even do well on the skidpad, pulling only 0.9G. By contrast their Z06 Clubsport pulled 1.12. Heck, even their 1984 Pontiac Trans Am pulled 0.98G. But my primary point is that the MIata is underpowered, and it is.
  • Luc Lapierre
Luc Lapierre 7 месяцев назад @DumbDuck44 miatas routinely beat c7s in autocross. Skidpad numbers aren't the tell all
  • DumbDuck44
DumbDuck44 7 месяцев назад No they don't. Experienced drivers who happen to be in a Miata beat some new guy on his first time out. I beat a Lambos time in an old 1999 FWD Ford SVT Contour, but I am not so idiotic as to think I have the higher performance vehicle. C'mon honey.
  • Luc Lapierre

  • Naroot Pitisongswat
Naroot Pitisongswat 10 месяцев назад I watched your ND MX-5 review since the first one (also watched them so many times, I loved the first one the most) It really help my decision making. Now I owned the RF for a month with no regret at all. I’m not a car guy and I normally don’t like to drive but since I got the RF I want to drive it everyday, no kidding, I really feel excited when I get through turns and corners. The car is indeed not fast but the agility, engine sound also a bit of wind noise make it feels fast. For me, it is quite practical as well, I drive it to work everyday, the trunk is enough for my bags and grocery for two to three people. Anyway, I think the best part of this car is the looks. The surface design was beautifully crafted, the color is gorgeous (soul red crystal) I can feel that it is really a head-turner car. I don’t put the top down that much because I lived in really hot climate (now is about 30-40c) but it still feels fine, I really look forward to the winter (which is about 23c and yes, this is probably the coldest we can have here). I really admired your work and please keep on doing it. Your fan from Bangkok, Thailand.

  • DrewLSsix
DrewLSsix 10 месяцев назад Maticalise Music Master if Honda releases another S2000 do you think they will go back to Mazda for their rule Drive engineering prowess?
  • Dan Wells
Dan Wells 10 месяцев назад Maticalise Music Master, I've owned 4 S2000s and 3 Miatas. My current 2017 ND MX-5 is perhaps my favorite (although my '02 Spa Yellow S2k holds a special place in my heart). The ND is sooo much better than my '01 and '08 Miatas and a completely different car than an S2k. The ND is like an eager little puppy wanting to please it's master at all times. The S2k is more like a pitbull. Brutish and somewhat boring until you get its hackles up (VTEC) then it comes alive and puts a huge smile on its owner's face. Yes, the Miata is awesome...and from what I've heard Honda has nixed the idea of another S2000.
  • lessdeth69
lessdeth69 10 месяцев назад I've owned two Miata's and now have an '06 S2K. The Honda feels like a true sports car, the Miata is a fun "sporty" runabout. Chassis dynamics, traction, power, and even style are so much better in the S2k.
  • S2kTi
S2kTi 10 месяцев назад Currently own an ap2 s2000 and a Miata. They cannot replace each other. They both are amazing cars in thier own way
  • Dan Wells
Dan Wells 10 месяцев назад S2kTi ..... So true! The love I have for my ND stems largely from the fact that I'm 66 years old, 6', 210lbs. and I'm supremely comfortable in that car. The S2ks were always a tight fit but the magic of VTEC was the siren song that called me to own 4 of them between 2003 to 2016. Now that I'm retired our day trips are longer and driving comfort is much appreciated. But you are correct. The S2k and the MX-5 are completely different cars. In the spirit of the British sports cars of old the Mazda is the rightful heir. The S2k carved its own path with its high revving 4 cyl. engines but IMO is more akin to the Boxster and Z3 as far as chassis dynamics and its larger size. Debating which lineage exemplifies what a "true sports car" is depends on ones own definition.
  • S2kTi
S2kTi 10 месяцев назад Dan Wells exactly. The similarities and driving characteristics end at the fact that they're both 2 seat roadsters. The Miata is a better daily driver in my opinion. The S is my garage queen and only goes out when I really want to drive for the sake of driving. The Miata is plenty fun on back roads as well. The S feels more special to me.
  • Michael Godsey
Michael Godsey 10 месяцев назад I love my MX-5 (2016 Club), but I do with Honda would make a new generation of S2000.  It was a great car and I feel there's DEF a market for it!  The world can only be better with a MX-5 and new S2K!!
  • S2kTi
S2kTi 10 месяцев назад Michael Godsey sadly, Honda has stated last year they have no plans to reinstate a roadster into their lineup. They said something along the lines of "leaving the s2000 in it's place in time.." which I think is cool in a way, yet kinda sad lol I'm just glad Mazda has continued to make a phenomenal car for enthusiasts. They easily could make a very mediocre car with the lack of competition in the sector, but they keep giving us more.
