Tata Harrier Review | Price Starts at 12.69 Lakh | Tata Takes On The Compass |

Premiered Dec 6, 2018 646,649 views

Tata has finally launched its much-awaited SUV, the Harrier At Rs 12.69 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai. Tata’s new flagship with its introductory price looks like a good value for money package.
The variant-wise price breakup, is as follow:
Tata Harrier XE - Rs 12.69 Lakh
Tata Harrier XM - Rs 13.75 Lakh
Tata Harrier XT - Rs 14.95 Lakh
Tata Harrier XZ - Rs 16.25 Lakh

With the Harrier, it seems like Tata has pulled out all the stops. Beginning with what’s underneath the swanky exterior. It’s based on the D8 platform that also underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport. But, all the aluminium has been ditched in favour of high-strength steel.

Under the hood is a 2.0-litre diesel engine developed by Fiat. Yep, it’s the same motor that also powers the Jeep Compass. But, it makes 140PS of power instead of 173PS, while torque is rated at 350Nm. And while the platform and the engine suggest the Harrier is all-wheel drive, it’s not. Power is sent to the front wheels only. As a consolation, you do get ‘Terrain Response’ modes - Rough Road and Wet. There are three drive modes too — Eco, City and Sport.

On the features front, Tata has thrown in quite a whole lot. There’s Xenon projector headlamps, cornering foglamps, 17-inch alloy wheels as well as LED tail lamps. On the inside there’s a soft touch dashboard, and leather upholstery. Infotainment duties are handled by an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster and a sweet-sounding 9 speaker JBL audio system. It’s loaded to the brim with safety tech too, including 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, traction control and hill descent control.

Himanshu Chaudhry 5 месяцев назад (изменено) Is that the guy who rated swift engined brezza above nexon? Zigwheel views on tata didn't changed even after those big hate comments. "20 lakhs for tata?" What do you want to convey? It is made on discovery's based platform and engine is sourced from fiat 2.0L. Where in this world you'll get car like this at this price point? Kartikayee sir, i have respect for you but your hate for tata boils us sometime! You are ready to pay 13 lakhs for a car which failed the child safety test, you are ready to pay 18 lakhs for creta made on i20 platform which offers just 1.6L engine. Dude, there are many foreigners who watches the reviews of indian car to judge them, and these types of captions ruins the image of whole brand. Grow up zigwheels!
  • Kartikeya Singhee
Kartikeya Singhee 5 месяцев назад Dude! I am super grateful that you wrote in. 🙏 I really think we should be open to criticisms. Just because a vehicle is good doesn't it is flawless, or can't be better. And by calling it like it is, we hope to help them (Tata in this case) become better. We wish them Nothing but success. We wish you the same too. Grow up! Be open to different view points. Thanks again for watching.
  • Himanshu Chaudhry
Himanshu Chaudhry 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Kartikeya Singhee sir, why only the tata? I do agree there are positives negatives in every car but why tata everytime? There are many brand which sells their cars at a price which they don't deserves, why not caption them the same? I clearly feels your preconceived notion towards tata. Still, you are great in your reviews.

Shyamsundar Dhond 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Kartikeya Singhee they are improving with every single launch. It's time for reviewers like you to change their anti Tata stand. And as far as openness is concerned you need to be more open about its goodness especially while reviewing a TATA car. Most of the time you give biased review. And ofcourse you need to change your video quality and sound quality a lot. That's my way of reviewing you 😉

hooka and khaat 5 месяцев назад @Thrissur Diary do you even have any idea what tata has done for india? Tata build india! They contribute to about 3% of the gdp. India's first airlines were started by tata which was later acquired by gov, india's first 5 star hotel was started by tata, tata believes in donating and giving solid products unlike maruti which kills innocent indians, tata makes vehicles for indian army, india's first company to cross the mark of $100 billion market share mark is tata

  • Raj jat
Raj jat 5 месяцев назад Seems like the caption is typed by maruti fan or a hyundai guy. If people are ready to pay 15 lakh for swift engined suv and 18 lakhs for a 1.6L creta made on i20 platform, then why not this? Harrier is made on range rover discovery platform and a fiat's 2.0L multijet engine, don't expect cheap pricing. This car is more about safety and build quality, things highly irrelevant to maruti and hyundai guys.
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад Hyundai has good build quality. 😒
  • bibhush shrestha
bibhush shrestha 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P Tata Harrier is based on Land Rover Discovery. Don't you think it'll have better built quality than the Hyundai?
  • Raj jat
Raj jat 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P google some ncap rating for hyundai india models. Old i10 failed the asean ncap Made in india grand i10 failed the latin ncap. Made in india i20's structural integrity found to be unstable by global ncap and indian creta is made on i20 platform. I am talking only about the indian models, euro ncap ratings are not valid here in india. Every hyundai line up from eon to creta is unsafe.
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад @bibhush shrestha I'm not comparing it to harrier. Creta is overpriced. But generally compared to maruti suzuki hyundai is way better.
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Raj jat Where did you get that info about indian i20. Body is not specially made for india. It's the same for international models. But international model has more airbags and other safety features. That's why the higher rating. Body and platform are the same. i20 sold in europe is also made in india. Lower end models such as i10 may not be as good. But still better than maruti suzuki imo.
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Raj jat Also creta is overpriced. I don't think it's worth it's price. I do agree with most of the things you said about the harrier. It is definitely worth 20L.
  • Himanshu Chaudhry
Himanshu Chaudhry 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P he is actually right. Hyundai is following the path of maruti, they give weaker cars in india. When i20 was tested in euro ncap, it's platform was rated as structurally stable. But when made in india model was tested in global ncap, it's platform was rated as "structurally unstable". It clearly shows that indian model lacks structural rigidity. You can find the same on global ncap official website or official youtube channel
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Himanshu Chaudhry There is no special i20 made for india. i20 sold in europe is also made in india. Body and platform is the same. Ratings vary because of more airbags and other extra safety features.
  • Raj jat
Raj jat 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P he just gave you the answer. Even suzuki exports the cars from here to europe, same with hyundai. Both have different assembly. Look at the ncap results, they simply indicates that indian models lacks that rigidness. i20 which is sold in europe is surely made in india but comes with better metal rigidness as well. See the global ncap statement on i20 unstable platform
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Raj jat I saw the crash tests. Results vary only because of airbags and safety features. Recent reports were based on tests on south african model. Even the top model had just 2 airbags and it didn't have any safely features and it scored 2 stars. If you watch the video. The damage on the body looks exactly the same as the european test. The cabin was intact. News is made around the lower rating. If you have any link to the article talking about different structural strength, pls post a link.
  • Himanshu Chaudhry
Himanshu Chaudhry 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P Even if it had 100 airbags it would have scored the same as global ncap just tests the front of the car. The main problem is the structural rigidness which is unrelated to number of airbags. That model was south african but it has same weight what they offers in india and it was made in india model. Euro model has different weight. The main problem is the structural integrity which do not depends on the number of airbags. Please read the norms of global ncap, there is a similar forum on teambhp as well.
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад @Himanshu Chaudhry All models have the exact same dimensions. Engine options are totally different in europe. Can't expect them to have the exact same weight with different engines and features.
  • Raj jat
Raj jat 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P that's true af. Structural integrity is irrelevant to number of airbags. Please relate to the norms of ncaps before replying or spreading misinformation. We have seen the 100% same case with swift,it is made in india as well but it's euro model has better rigidness, hence stable and vice versa for indian model. Now see how these companies are fooling us
  • Arun K P
Arun K P 5 месяцев назад @Raj jat So you're saying airbags are irrelevant in the global ncap rating? For 5 star there need to be even pedestrian protection and other safety assists. The result is not based on structural integrity alone. It's one part of it. It tests many other things.
  • Raj jat
Raj jat 5 месяцев назад @Arun K P no they are not irrelevant in global. I am just clearing this difference of structural rigidness in euro model and indian model. Unstable chassis is more worse than scoring low stars
