Rutwik Navalgund 7 месяцев назад Bottas has to be the most unluckiest of drivers. It had the possibility of winning two races and his team sacrificed it. Irrespective of how much of a good team players he is, it will always hurt to know that he is being ignored. Nearly 50 laps on those tyres would have frustrated him.
  • Samuel Whitby
Samuel Whitby 7 месяцев назад I think it's a good thing, Bottas showed that he was fed up and hopefully going into the next half of the season he will be fired up and get a well deserved win. I think that the incident was a racing incident as Ricciardo would have been told that his tyres are over 50 laps old and his front wing is broken, it was an inevitable situation.

  • Phillip Tran
Phillip Tran 7 месяцев назад Racing incident? Lol it's a good thing you guys aren't stewards. To lay any blame on Ric shows you don't know much about racing. It was 100% Bottas's fault, and the penalties applied were consistent with similar incidents in the past. Nontheless, people should stop taking his comments seriously. It was a heat of moment, and I can understand Bottas' frustration as he was shat by Toto and his team (ironically before the race Toto said they will let the two Merc drivers drive).

  • OzzFi
OzzFi 7 месяцев назад Roel Steeghs So every lock-up should be considered dangerous driving? He braked quite late against Vettel as well and could easily make the turn, which probably lead to the immersion he could do it again. That was 100% a racing incident as he just overestimated the optimal breaking point. Ricciardo did nothing wrong but what he also could've done is dodge Bottas as he locks up, wait for him to go wide and then take the position on the straight.
  • Samuel Whitby
Samuel Whitby 7 месяцев назад I think it is and it isn't. I don't think a driver should just give up and with only 2 laps to go, as a racer you will defend with all your heart, especially after what had just happened between him and Vettel. All I was saying is that Daniel would know how damaged Bottas is and will realise just how slow he is, that's not to say Daniel can't go for a move like that but with hindsight maybe he should have just taken his time, maybe do a similar move to Vettel (Without the closing the door part) as he would easily get a better run down to T2 and overtaken at that point.

  • Monsta Lova
Monsta Lova 7 месяцев назад Bottas has had awful luck this year and has been used for inferior strategies compared to Hamilton numerous times. He rightfully could have won four races at least this year. His mindset for this race made to do 55 laps while holding everyone behind would be pissed off at his team. The incident with Ricciardo was all Bottas fault no doubt, he wasn't even going to make the corner and was heading off the track if Ricciardo wasn't there. Found it strange that all they showed was Mercedes saying give the position back but not Bottas reply. I knew he wouldn't want to do it after the race he's had. Why didn't F1 make the dream team we all wanted to see... Hamilton & Alonso in Mercedes - Vettel & Ricciardo in Ferrari! Even for one year. Hopefully Alonso at least gets a shot at the Ferrari drive in 2019. He should tell them he will drive for free!

  • kysz1
kysz1 7 месяцев назад Car condition is not a sufficient excuse in this case. He overshot that braking big time. Also - note that Ricciardo wasn't just alongside him - he was already partially ahead before braking zone. In situation like this, being fully arare of his car condition, Valteri should know that this fight is lost. So why brake so late and risk collision with opponent that is already on the outside and will surely remain there? Well - because in the heat of the moment you make mistakes. And that's it - Valteri made a mistake - went in too hot with a car that was not capable of it. Yes - if we expect Ricciard to take Valteri's car condition into account, then why not expect from Bottas, that he will take his OWN car condition into account? :) Note that race officials gave penalty to Bottas for this incident. Personaly I'm not blaming Valteri, but please don't be rdiculous by putting the blame on Ricciardo - he went really wide in this corner leaving a lot of space - enough even for a struggling car.
  • THAVANI
THAVANI 7 месяцев назад I think Bottas braked after the contact or after seeing Seb cut across and locked his brakes... It looked like he could take the corner at the speed he was going... Binay Shrestha 7 месяцев назад Bottas braked later than seb on that incident. And Seb was ahead of bottas. Having a little bit of front wing in the sides doesnt mean bottas was alongside vettel. You can watch the replay again and again, vettel braked and took the line thinking he was ahead, valterri braked later and hit vettel from behind. A racing incident. Nothing more. Valterri shouldve conceded the position to vettel with his worn out tyres and think about how he could hold kimi or ricciardo. IN the end, he got a penalty and dropped to 5th. Mercedes played him with that 1 stop strat.

And with ricciardo,  Ricciardo knows Bottas' tyres were gone so really Bottas should have bailed out but at the same time, Bottas is on the inside which is dirty, compounded with his shit tyres and damaged front wing, even if he tried to brake early he would have still made contact. MajicGecko PMPL 7 месяцев назад Timi Akinlonu i totally agree that Bottas is being fucked up by his own team to benefit Lewis but on other hand i completely disagree on crash with Vettel. Bottas was just desperate there, he knew he has no chance to come back at Seb and clearly made mistake there. He has to expect Vettel to turn right there and he his line is completely compromised, he should lift switch to outside and protect from Kimi but because Mercedes constantly is fucking him up he is desperate to prove himself. Then in the accident with Ricciardo his frustration just came out and he wanted to say NO to the team at least in something. Giving position back to Ricciardo or 10sec penalty was still putting him in P5 so no difference there but maybe he needed that "NO" to the team to at least let go of some frustrations. I believe Mercedes will destroy his career and mentally fuck him up. They signed him again just for 1 year with option for another and he will constantly be between pressure to deliver and frustration of being unable to fight for WDC.

His front wing was still alongside Vettel's tyre, so Seb should've given him more room. Also, Hamilton was 20s in front at that point, even without the contact, Vettel was never going to catch him.

Also Vettel had a lot more than half a car in front of Bottas, so it was his corner... Valteri insisted to push the car over Vettel, and had what he deserved... He could have stayed there and give Bottas a bit more room and would have had the inside of the next corner even if Bottas decided to attack him. But Vettel decided to immediately cut off in front of Bottas leaving him no room. You are right it was Vettel's corner as he was in front, but as Vettel himself admitted post-race, Bottas lost all grip once he cut across so close to the front wing. You can see Bottas even took a little bit of kerb to avoid Seb. Vettel was lucky he didn't get a puncture. Bottas could have received a penalty in that situation, but Vettel would have been trailing Hamilton by 42 points. Which is worse? Trying to proof a point that it was your corner, or comfortably pass on the outside and carry on to get some good points.
