  • Jagwar X
Jagwar X 4 месяца назад (изменено) Bartonovich52 Hazztech is right in a enviorment WITHOUT AIR RESISTANCE the feather and the rock will fall at the same pace. But when air resistance is involved the object with more mass will accelerate faster due to the force of gravity being larger when both have the same drag force So in this scenario you are correct

  • Hazztech
Hazztech 7 месяцев назад (изменено) @Bartonovich52 sadly for you, a car and another car are more comparable than a feather and a brick Do try again though. Oh yeah, and you can say fuck on the internet. Your mom won't find you.
  • Bartonovich52
Bartonovich52 7 месяцев назад So am I to believe that both a feather and a brick will both accelerate at 9.81 m/s^2 if dropped within an atmosphere? You’re the fvcking joke.
  • Hunter Robertson
Hunter Robertson 7 месяцев назад (изменено) @Hazztech it was a joke comparing this thing to the boulder from the first Indian for how this big car accelerated down a hill. An I know that the weight isn't a factor here. Downhill, plus Acceleration from the driver, plus 500 cubic inches of this American monster motor adds up to, "Tactial War Couch, incoming!"
  • Hazztech
Hazztech 7 месяцев назад @Bartonovich52 I'm sorry, did you just confuse top speed with acceleration? You're a joke.
  • Bartonovich52
Bartonovich52 7 месяцев назад Hazztech. You bet it does. That’s why a P-40 could out dive a Zero. Higher weight vs roughly the same drag equals higher terminal velocity. It applies to cars in a slightly reduced, but still significant manner. The world is not a physics classroom where falling bodies are in a vacuum or air resistance is negligible.
  • Hazztech
Hazztech 7 месяцев назад Weight doesn't effect accelerating.

MrEthan520 3 месяца назад My teacher got his coupe de Ville on Craigslist for $300, and has been spending the past 2 or so years restoring it. It's going by really slowly but it's getting (somewhat) done. My class rebuilt the engine 2 years ago and the rest of the car is getting progressively assembled around it.
  • travis habursky
travis habursky 5 месяцев назад In a similar vein, a mint '77 Chrysler Cordoba is going for $12k right now from a classic vehicle dealer. 400 Cu/I engine, Corinthian leather, and other options included. My Grandpa had that same model year and trim package when I was a kid. My Grandmother got rid of it after he died. That car is the reason I'm a gearhead, that and my Mom's '83 Z28 Camaro. Fuck do I miss that Camaro.

  • sproly born
sproly born 7 месяцев назад @DrewLSsix if we're talking about 50+ year old vehicles here, there comes a point where maintenance alone isnt going to keep something running. either they were built sturdy enough that they can last that long with proper maintenance, or they were built shoddy and cheap as the claims are in this comment chain that the fucking frame would have rusted in half by then and it would've been hauled off to a scrapyard 30 years ago. We both know this is not the case because there are simply too many examples of cars of this era driving around. There should be none whatsoever.
  • DrewLSsix
DrewLSsix 7 месяцев назад sproly born You should read up bud.
  • sproly born
sproly born 7 месяцев назад @Bartonovich52 "it makes peak torque at a mere 1800 rpm" Your turbo isnt even functioning as a turbo at such low RPM. I dont know the specifics of your engine but are you seriously trying to tell me you LOSE torque (which you would have to be if your peak torque is at 1800rpm) when you start reaching RPM that would be producing boost? Im calling bullshit here. If what you were saying were true about the older cars, then there would be ABSOLUTELY ZERO. NONE. ZILCH. of them around anymore. so why is it they're still around? Are they all replica kit cars?
  • Bartonovich52
Bartonovich52 7 месяцев назад Oh. And I have a tiny 1.5 litre boosted engine in my Honda Civic. It makes peak torque at a mere 1800 RPM... and will pull in sixth gear at any speed... all on 87 pump gas. I don’t bother downshifting to pass—even uphill.
