  • Hazztech
Hazztech 5 месяцев назад Weight doesn't effect accelerating.
  • Bartonovich52
Bartonovich52 5 месяцев назад Hazztech. You bet it does. That’s why a P-40 could out dive a Zero. Higher weight vs roughly the same drag equals higher terminal velocity. It applies to cars in a slightly reduced, but still significant manner. The world is not a physics classroom where falling bodies are in a vacuum or air resistance is negligible.
  • Hazztech
Hazztech 5 месяцев назад @Bartonovich52 I'm sorry, did you just confuse top speed with acceleration? You're a joke.
  • Hunter Robertson
Hunter Robertson 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Hazztech it was a joke comparing this thing to the boulder from the first Indian for how this big car accelerated down a hill. An I know that the weight isn't a factor here. Downhill, plus Acceleration from the driver, plus 500 cubic inches of this American monster motor adds up to, "Tactial War Couch, incoming!"
  • Bartonovich52
Bartonovich52 5 месяцев назад So am I to believe that both a feather and a brick will both accelerate at 9.81 m/s^2 if dropped within an atmosphere? You’re the fvcking joke.
  • Hazztech
Hazztech 5 месяцев назад (изменено) @Bartonovich52 sadly for you, a car and another car are more comparable than a feather and a brick Do try again though. Oh yeah, and you can say fuck on the internet. Your mom won't find you.
  • Gabriel Bonanno
Gabriel Bonanno 4 месяца назад galileo
  • Jagwar X
Jagwar X 2 месяца назад (изменено) Bartonovich52 Hazztech is right in a enviorment WITHOUT AIR RESISTANCE the feather and the rock will fall at the same pace. But when air resistance is involved the object with more mass will accelerate faster due to the force of gravity being larger when both have the same drag force So in this scenario you are correct
  • Devon Clancy

Billy Love 3 месяца назад @Aaron Bays that's right. The only difference is on cars before 1971 you really need to run premium and even that is iffy.

  • xaenon
xaenon 6 месяцев назад I know what he's talking about though. The old man had a '70-something Lincoln that had the most ridiculously over-assisted power steering in creation. Absolutely no resistance or road feel whatsoever - it honestly felt like the car was up in the air on a frame lift. And yes, you could steer the car with your pinky. Not just on the straights, but around corners as well, and at any speed.

When you look for classic cars you will find :1969 Chevelle, not original engine, rust in quarters and floor, lights don't work, $20,000" Or "1969 Cadillac, been in family since new, 80,000 miles no rust, needs a tune up and new tires, $12,000" They are great buys

  • Gerry Nightingale
Gerry Nightingale 6 месяцев назад *With a very light application of 'modern goodies'...the Caddy in this vid would SMOKE a '69 Chevelle!*
  • Shelby67
Shelby67 6 месяцев назад Too bad in Europe they cost like 10-40k. The 10k ones are in rather rough shape. I won't even mention gas prices...
  • InfiniteMushroom
InfiniteMushroom 3 месяца назад @Gerry Nightingale Shows what an old fart I am but, I drove a new 1970 Eldorado with the 500 engine and that car was FAST. It had POWER galore and could hold its own against most any muscle car of the time.
  • travis habursky
travis habursky 3 месяца назад In a similar vein, a mint '77 Chrysler Cordoba is going for $12k right now from a classic vehicle dealer. 400 Cu/I engine, Corinthian leather, and other options included. My Grandpa had that same model year and trim package when I was a kid. My Grandmother got rid of it after he died. That car is the reason I'm a gearhead, that and my Mom's '83 Z28 Camaro. Fuck do I miss that Camaro.
  • MrEthan520
MrEthan520 1 месяц назад My teacher got his coupe de Ville on Craigslist for $300, and has been spending the past 2 or so years restoring it. It's going by really slowly but it's getting (somewhat) done. My class rebuilt the engine 2 years ago and the rest of the car is getting progressively assembled around it.
  • Jared Freeland
Jared Freeland 6 месяцев назад Cars like this just go to show how great the 'better' cars of yesteryear really were. Prioritizing ride comfort, reliability and what the common people defined as 'luxury', Cadillac really earned their place as a truly desirable motor car.
  • DrewLSsix
DrewLSsix 6 месяцев назад Jared Freeland Really? After he started the video describing all the barely functional features?
  • Jordan Wiley
Jordan Wiley 6 месяцев назад Dude the car is 50 years old. I'm surprised the power top and windows still work.
  • Pokey Trucker
Pokey Trucker 6 месяцев назад (изменено) @DrewLSsix I'm guessing you've never owned a car this vintage. The fact that most of the power features still work on this car is a testament to everything he just said about this car.
  • Robert Breeden
Robert Breeden 6 месяцев назад @Drew... It runs and runs well. All the other shit doesn't matter. I'd call it dependable.
  • popuptoaster
popuptoaster 6 месяцев назад Mercedes ruined luxury cars in the late 80's/ early 90's, the S class made it all about how many gadgets you had rather than how good the car "felt" and everyone else followed along with the trend, so now a 20+ year old luxury car feels just the same as a brand new cheap car (that has the same equipment) except more expensive to run and usually broken.
  • Aaron Bays
Aaron Bays 6 месяцев назад Mercedes didn't screw the pooch until the 2000 S-class with the introduction of the screen. Also most of the tech in that car was really half baked(let the customer do the durability testing) reliability and cost to fix that car were a nightmare. 80's/90's S-classes were kind of austere, Cadillac had all kinds of stuff that wasn't available in a Benz of that era. Stuff like automatic headlights, cup holders, digital climate control, night vision(2000 Deville), on-board diagnostics, you couldn't get that in an 80's/90's Benz.
  • Jack Eagan
Jack Eagan 6 месяцев назад Except depending on the brand the materials might be a million times nicer than a new cheap car.
  • Andrew Maximo
Andrew Maximo 6 месяцев назад That new ATS-V still looks pretty sexy tho.
  • pontiacGXPfan
pontiacGXPfan 6 месяцев назад Then the stereotypes started dragging the damn company down to the point where old people and pimps were pretty much synonymous with this car
  • DrewLSsix
DrewLSsix 6 месяцев назад Robert Breeden It runs well because it’s been maintained, this car is not inherently more reliable than most made today. Most cars from that decade weren’t.
  • sproly born
sproly born 5 месяцев назад not exactly true. something sprang up starting in the 90s or so called "planned obsolescence". In which companies design their products to fail after a set interval so you will go out and buy a replacement. back then, as stereotypical as it is of me to actually say this, "they were built to last". And they did. Oh and i guess an honorable mention goes to the fact that a giant engine such as that that makes ass-loads of torque and has a redline around 4500-5000 really does not have to strain at all to make a fair amount of power. Sure a boosted to fuck 4 cyilinder engine can make as much if not more power but its turning 8000-9000 rpm under 20lbs of boost. It will naturally wear out faster than the big engine because its subjected to far more extreme conditions.
